Allison Zupan, an undergraduate researcher in the Pinkhassik Lab finishing up her sophomore year, won a Summer Undergraduate Research Fund (SURF) Award from the Connecticut Valley Section of the American Chemical Society (CVS-ACS). The SURF Award provides her with a $3500 stipend in the Pinkhassik Lab for Summer 2019. She will be presenting a poster representing her research at the 2020 CVS-ACS Undergraduate Research Symposium in April.

On Wednesday, April 17, 2019, Weiyu Zhang, a polymer chemistry Ph.D. student in the Pinkhassik Lab, was presented with the 2019 Award for Best Poster and a $200 prize at the banquet for the R.T. Major Symposium in the Chemistry Department at the University of Connecticut.
2019, Weiyu Zhang, a polymer chemistry Ph.D. student in the Pinkhassik Lab, was selected for a competitive 12-week internship with the Institute for Bioprocessing and Analytical Measurement Techniques in Heilbad Heiligenstadt, Germany. The internship is supported by both the company and the DAAD RISE Professional program. She will be working in Germany from May to August of 2019 on the basic characterization of an impedimetric biosensor for antibiotics.
